New opening! Please watch closely and pay attention to all the little details here and there!
If you look closely, Schult-chan really is there properly in the new opening.
Part A starts! Beginning with the Sword Saint's apology.
My computer is unbelievably out of sorts. Ugooogoh...
Rem's lap pillow!
After their falling-out in the last episode, Subaru and Rem are currently imposing on Crusch Karsten's mansion.
Since the start of the Royal Selection has been declared, introductions to the Royal Selection candidates and the like are circulating throughout the kingdom. Though still only in part of the royal capital.
The fruit shop owner is a man named Kadomon, and despite appearances, he's quite a sensible, good-hearted fellow.
Incidentally, in that short time that day, Rem set Kadomon's fruit stand's all-time sales record.
Seductive lady Crusch-sama.
That instant cut-in is a glimpse of Subaru's exhausted gate being treated. Whether you find that enviable or not depends on the person.
At key moments, Subaru-kun says exactly the thing people least want to have pointed out.
Crusch-sama usually says something really cool, which is a great help.
Natsuki Subaru receives a revelation from the words of those two.
I wonder how Wilhelm-san sees Subaru as he is now.
That was fast! Part A is over!
He's the protagonist, so naturally, he's going to start kicking ass from here on out, right?
Part B begins!
Captions!
When you compare Rem's build to Ferris's, doesn't it, well, make you feel a lot of things? Is it just me? I see, sorry!
Unconscious sense of superiority.
These lines around here really hit different if you go back and rewatch episode 9.
It's read as "kei." It's used kind of like "you."

Rem has just taught the ground dragon its place in the pecking order.
In this world, "mist" is synonymous with a bad omen. The reason will come later.
Both the ground dragon and the dragon carriage were borrowed from Crusch's mansion out of kindness. It's sort of in exchange for interrupting Subaru's treatment halfway through. Not exactly cool, though.
This is the post town of Fleur. The ground dragon is super tired!
Rem in sleepwear, seductive lady once again.
Their shared sense is like the twin version of a bugle call. If Ram suddenly feels flustered like, "This is bad! I burned the roasted sweet potato!" that gets conveyed to Rem. She normally keeps it suppressed, though.
This is treatment.
It is treatment, indeed.
The owner of this inn seems like such an incredibly nice person that being rough here feels really guilt-inducing, doesn't it?
Rem disappears.
Now Rem's letter comes in.
He tries negotiating with the merchants, but many people are too afraid of the mist to hear him out.
What's with the green one, you ask? Just a background character adding some liveliness.
The ground dragon senses something wrong and stops. It's a four-legged ground dragon named Fulfu. The green one, you ask? Just there for extra color.
Something strange happens on the way back to the mansion.
A memory comes rushing back, along with the desire to make up for it.
Dawn breaks, and Arlam Village is there.
People can only see what they want to see.
Special ending.
Rem's letter, once again.
From Subaru-kun to Rem...
B Part over! Thanks for watching Episode 14!!
Now then, this episode ends on a pretty impactful note even within Re:Zero, and the person who made it into such a fantastic episode was Eiji Umehara, who joined the Re:Zero script team starting with this one. Umehara-san really had amazing compatibility with Re:Zero, so he was a huge help.
The cliffhanger for this story works in the Web version and the books precisely because it's in narration, so I was really troubled over how to express it in anime form. Umehara-san broke through that by skillfully using a letter. When that idea came in right at the start, I was like, that's just too brilliant...!
By the way, when I first met Umehara-san, I had literally just finished playing the game that first made me learn his name. If you look up Eiji Umehara-san and play that game, I think you'll understand why the first thing I said to him was, "That wasn't something a human should be doing!" and why he was such a perfect fit for Re:Zero!
Now then, the third loop has begun to move. We finally got to hear the new opening, and on only the second ending we got a special ending too, so Episode 14 had all sorts of highlights. Please watch it over and over! And look forward to Episode 15 too! See you again next week! Thanks!
Oh, right, before bed, something I forgot to mention: the letter Rem left behind was written in "i-moji," basically just hiragana, so Subaru could read it. A considerate touch from Rem, but Subaru probably won't realize it.
In the last scene, Subaru-kun is worried only about Rem. As for exactly what state of mind he's in while worrying about Rem... oh, maybe the books?
