It’s started! By the way, even I won’t know what’s changed until I watch it!

There are also detailed art settings for things like this cup ramen and these snack foods. We can’t use real products, so even the corn potage snacks have a mysterious mascot.
The reason Subaru uses a Velcro wallet is probably because he likes that "brrrip" sound it makes when he shops, and also because it’s likely the kind of wallet he’s been using since elementary school.
Subaru says, "All these games are making my eyes blurry," but going by his personality, he’s probably into offline console games rather than online games. It still wasn’t the height of the social gacha game era yet.
Looking at it like this, Felt’s physical abilities are seriously insane.
That fluffy little kid who briefly appears by the fountain is a favorite of Otsuka-sensei, the illustrator, and pops up now and then in Re:Zero books too.
The friendly fruit seller, or rather Kadomon the fruit seller, aka Mister Save Point, has all sorts of backstory, like how he got that scar on his face and why he runs a fruit shop, but will the day ever come when I write about it...?
Given the history of the Kingdom of Lugunica, for Subaru, an ordinary human, to walk into a demi-human specialty shop is seriously beyond just "lacking tact," so this is only natural.
Kyaa! Tonchinkan!!
From the left: the eldest of ten brothers, a pampered little noble, and a slender pretty boy when he was little.
I remember having quite a few discussions about Subaru getting kicked here, and about how badly Tonchinkan should beat him up. Like, "Please kick him with more force," or "Please have him writhe like he's dying."
Kyaa! The main heroine! So cute! An angel! Thank you for beautiful girls!
From the perspective of someone writing the story that comes later, Emilia and Felt playing tag here looks seriously dangerous. What kind of inhuman, demon-realm chase scene was that, I wonder.
Kyaa! So cool! The Frozen Bond!
Hmm, gross lol
That cat has some long, sleek legs...
Since her insignia was stolen and she's in a huge hurry, she's talking super fast. She blurted out everything she wanted to say all at once, so she was probably like, "Did I maybe say too much...?"
I actually rather like the polite speech Emilia slips into sometimes. As the original author, I mean.
Subaru's artistic talent on display. And then, a mysterious girl who looks a whole lot like Felt...
The very first Saturday Night Fever pose.
According to the setting, Emilia came to the capital with Ram, so while these two are out doing Roman Holiday together like this, big sis should be out there searching for the lost child fairly seriously.
After thinking it over, he tried introducing himself by name. -> "That's a nice name!" Total failure to communicate.
The lost little girl's name is Plum-chan. She was on her way with her mother to where her father was, but while her mother was talking to an acquaintance, she probably wandered off after something that caught her eye and got separated.
Including magic tricks, Subaru's hobby is "learning little skills that aren't useful in daily life," so he has all sorts of odd talents. He can even play 70s folk songs on acoustic guitar.
If Puck had gotten serious here, Subaru's face would probably have been blown clean off...
Since it's the shop that made the strongest impression, we come back to Kadomon's fruit stand after going around to various places. Good thing it wasn't the women's restroom or the demi-human specialty shop.
By the way, Emilia's spending money had various complications, and she ended up using it for Mimi, whom she ran into along the way.
In Arc 1, they don't appear on screen, but many of the Royal Selection members and related people are just normally in the capital, so near-misses are happening all over the place. Felt even runs into Wilhelm-san and gets the scare of her life.
Whenever Puck disappears, he always does it in a way that looks like he's dying, just as a prank. He could vanish more normally if he wanted to.
"Don't go thinking weird things, okay?" is probably also just something Puck told her word-for-word as advice on what to do when she's alone with a boy.
A lovely scene of Emilia talking with the lesser spirits. Such a fantastical situation. Though what she's probably actually saying is something like, "So, I'm looking for a blonde girl... she's a bad girl. She stole something important from me. Ah, but if she apologizes properly, I do intend to forgive her."
Part B starts now!
Stay strong!
That female voice here was cuter than I remembered...
Emilia's the type who gets a stomachache when she lies, so she's probably outside waiting while enduring some pretty serious tummy pain.
Did the whole vibe just change?
No way, wasn't this supposed to be a cozy slow-life isekai...?
It would've been nice if Subaru had managed a more proper scream here... well, no, not nice, but still.
Mr. Save Point!
The customary "Return by Death" song, fuee-hee ♪
Kyaa! Tonchinkan!
From the left: Divine Protection of Grappling, no Divine Protection, no Divine Protection.
A fighting style where he talks about grip strength, gets the other guy focused on his arms, and then kicks him straight in the crotch at that exact moment!
A grandpa who's alive!
Sometimes you do wonder, right? I get it, I get it.
Rom-jii had actually closed the shop because Felt told him she wanted privacy, but Subaru was being so loud that he opened it. As actions go, that was the correct one.
The loot for the stolen-goods store comes from Felt and the other residents of the slums. Felt can steal even from high-difficulty targets, so she'd have to be called their ace player.
With Rom-jii's hands being that big, that corn potage would've been gone in two handfuls... Lately it feels like they've reduced the amount, too...
Hey hey hey, did you see that commercial just now??
You can't let your guard down even during the commercials with this new edit...!
Since the theft went well and she was in a good mood, Felt-chan didn't kick him out of the way.
Felt is cute from every angle because animation director Sakai-san took a liking to her.
Felt and Rom-jii go way back, all the way to when Felt first became aware of things, so that's why they have this kind of closeness. They lived together until Felt left to become independent. Rom-jii does tell her, "You can come back anytime." Not that Felt is the type to lean on that.
I like how carefully they even recreated that thing where the eyes in a photo light up.
Fast hands.
Come to think of it! The stolen-goods store password, "poison for the big rat"... I vaguely remember there being discussion on site about whether people knew what boric-acid dumplings were... If I recall right, younger people didn't know, and there was a quiet little generation gap!
Kyaa! Elsa-saaaan! Don't go bowel hunting!
That lip sound when she licks the milk here, Noto-san, who plays Elsa, nails it in one take. Amazing.
The client (ominous)
By the way, the sacred gold coins, gold coins, silver coins, and copper coins each have specific engraved designs. I think the sacred gold coin has Lugunica Royal Castle on it, and the other three each depict one of the heroes known as the Three Great Heroes of the Kingdom of Lugunica.
Subaru-kun's first verbal blunder after arriving in another world.
Surprisingly, Subaru hasn't actually died from verbal blunders.
The way Elsa the Bowel Hunter moves here in the stolen-goods store is insane.
Even though she carries knives around, the way Elsa-san casually uses whatever happens to be nearby really shows her personality.
Felt's fighting here is seriously cool.
If her opponent had been anyone but Elsa, could she have won, I wonder. If Felt got the first ambush in, she looks like she could manage taking Petelgeuse down once, at least. The reason she still couldn't win... those who know, know.
Subaru can finally move, but he's not even enough to be a toy for Elsa-san. Elsa-san has also just finished having fun with Felt, so she doesn't really feel like playing with Subaru much.
The reason Subaru dodges here is basically that he remembers having his belly slashed in his previous death, and instinctively realizes she's the one who did it.
A modern person's intestines probably looked appealing to Elsa-san, the bowel sommelier. In this world, I think Subaru would count as someone with particularly beautiful intestines.
As the original author, I actually rather like this second death in a subdued way. At the very end, when it turns into that deflated "Ah, I died," it's probably because he stopped feeling anything in that instant.
Maybe the reason Kadomon-san doesn't make much money is because he's too good a person...
From Emilia's point of view, her insignia still hasn't even been stolen yet, and she'd only just run into Mimi and was in a fairly good mood, when suddenly she gets called by the name of an evil Witch, so she's absolutely furious.
I was wondering what they'd do for the ED!!
Elsa-san's expression barely changes even while fighting, but when she's gazing at Subaru's intestines her cheeks are flushed, so she really feels like the genuine article, and that's wonderfully alarming. I like her. (Sudden confession)
Thank you for watching Episode 1 of the new edit of Re: Starting Life in Another World! It's an hour long, but it goes by fast when you're live-commenting!
Like this, every week I'm live-commenting while talking about behind-the-scenes stories from back then and Re:Zero setting details, so if you'd like, please keep me company from here on too. As you can see, I'm seriously loud, so if that's not your thing, mute ! Seriously!
And with that, thank you very much! See you next week! Good night!
