Alright, Wednesday night is here! Which means it's Re:Zero time! Today is Episode 4, in other words the halfway point of the first half! Last time we had the Archbishops of Sin being way too hostile with each other, plus a Garfiel & Mimi scene! Looking forward to today too!
Operation: Take Back the Government Office
Author Broadcast Live-Tweets(31 entries)
It's started! The vanished siblings, and the city hall that we already know is dangerous. Garfiel and Mimi have headed there, but...!
At this rate... there's no OP...!?
Mimi speaks up to Garfiel, who's all fired up and leaning forward too hard, and shows that she knows how to judge the situation. She really is the vice-captain of the Iron Fang. Since last time, we've been able to show a different side of Mimi the whole time, and as the author, I'm really fond of that. The situation is not good, though.
At the same time, Felt and Reinhard had come to meet Heinkel, but after the Witch Cult's broadcast, things ended up like that. Heinkel's plan is to keep Reinhard there so he can protect both himself and Felt.
The nostalgic Conversation Mirror. In terms of the setting, it was recovered during the battle with Petelgeuse, and since it's useful, they've just kept using it ever since.
The "Blessing of Triad" that Mimi, Hetaro, and Tivey possess lets the Pearlbaton triplets divide up things like fatigue and injuries, allowing them to cover for each other's abnormalities and even life-threatening danger. That's how Mimi's crisis was conveyed to Hetaro and Tivey.
Julius and Ricardo, along with Hetaro and Tivey, had spread out through the city under Anastasia's orders to find out whether the Witch Cult's announcement was true.
The one broadcasting is Capella of "Lust," but you can hear screams and bizarre sounds. The only way to find out what's happening is to go to city hall and see for yourselves.
Normally, Kiritaka Muse is a highly capable person, so his "songstress obsession" is staying under wraps...! If Al's muttering is true, the demanded "witch's remains" would be those of Typhon, the Witch of Pride.
Sharp-eyed viewers may have noticed, but after Mimi was taken down and Garfiel lost confidence, his first-person pronoun shifted from "ore-sama" to just "ore." How long that state lasts is one of the things to watch in Season 3.
Elsa keeps taking over Garfiel's mind, reflecting his desire to avoid a life-or-death battle. Mimi paid the price for his wavering focus in both heart and strength.
Ricardo Welkin is the captain of the Iron Fang, a father-like figure to Anastasia and the triplets, and one of the most capable men in the Re:Zero world. He sees what's going on around him. He knows the right words to say. The kind of man you'd want as your boss...!
If this were Subaru up through Arc 4, then just as Julius feared, I think he wouldn't have hesitated to split off on his own to save Emilia. Subaru is worried sick about Emilia, but since she was abducted, he figures there's a purpose behind it, and he chooses to stay with everyone out of concern for the entire city.
Rather, it's Al, the one who splits off from the group here, who's making the same kind of choice Julius was worried Subaru might make.
Right before a full-scale battle, Crusch-san tying her hair up as part of getting ready to fight is so good. They really animated her carefully gathering it into a ponytail. I love it.
Garfiel returns to the place tied to the grudge of Mimi being taken down, but the situation there has completely changed--
The elite members split into matchups to counter the slender swordsman and the giant multi-armed man, and as Wilhelm-san trades blows, he seems to realize something.
The composite spell Ul Goa is a combination of the fire spell "Goa" and the wind spell "Fura," made possible by Julius because he has multiple spirits with him. The only others who can do it are top-class magic users, a limited few like Roswaal and a man named Ezzo in the Felt camp.
Hmm, Capella is infuriating.
When Subaru stands in front of the enemy and starts rapid-firing incomprehensible things, that's the pattern where he's trying to stall for time. This time, the one he's relying on is Julius.
Her facial expressions are properly way too human, and doesn't that make this black dragon give off an incredible bratty-girl vibe? The depiction is amazing.
It's nice how Subaru calls out to Garfiel, and Crusch-san calls out to Wilhelm-san.
Cute Crusch-san.
Subaru and the others storm the city hall to stop Capella's atrocities, but the one waiting to greet them isn't "Lust" at all, but a different opponent instead: Roy Alphard of "Gluttony." When he sees Subaru, he seems to think he's looking at a face he knows too.
Already the ending!? That felt like 10 minutes!
Subaru has been desperately holding back his worry for Emilia and trying not to become dead weight, but now that "Gluttony" is finally right in front of him, he's reached the limit of what he can endure. Just as that eruption is about to happen--we'll continue the city hall side next time! We've got a C-part today, so hold it if you need the bathroom!
The camera turns to the abducted Emilia. Emilia has been taken away by Regulus, but...
Let everyone feel how creepy Regulus-san is!!
That last bit with Regulus-san was awful in the worst way, but today Garfiel & Mimi's battle, and then the elite members' battle in the second half, had absolutely incredible impact. One by one, the Archbishops of Sin are also fully showing off how nasty they are. I wrote it myself, but wow, Arc 5 is hopelessly stacked!
Episode 4 really felt like 10 minutes. Not just the situation, but each character's emotions also moved dramatically, and this episode kept pouring out the Archbishops of Sin's horror and eeriness. Thank you for sticking with it! We'll get to the continuation you're curious about next week! Let's meet again at the same time! Good night!
