What, Subaru, are you saying that after acting all triumphant last time, Regulus-san is now completely beating you one-sidedly!? If that's how it's going to be, you'll just make Regulus-san even more full of himself! Look, now he's the one acting triumphant and rambling on and on!

Regulus-san's Authorities are "Lion's Heart" and "Little King." "Lion's Heart" is the ability to stop his own time and become invincible in exchange for his heart stopping. "Little King" was the ability to parasitize his pseudo-heart into his wives, letting him ignore the drawback of cardiac arrest. And apparently he could implant pseudo-hearts into all 53 brides.

With shards of glass in hand, the brides showed they were ready to take their own lives if necessary. They were prepared to take Regulus-san down with them in exchange for their own lives, but Emilia took that burden on herself. Regulus-san's whole "don't you dare say that" vibe, seriously.

For the record, the only brides Regulus-san can make targets of "Little King" are the ones he has judged to have "entered his kingdom." So the fact that he included Emilia really is some unbelievable audacity, but with Regulus-san it's a little late for that.

Subaru figured out how Regulus-san avoided Emilia's finishing blow, but even if "Little King" had been undone, "Lion's Heart" was still usable as much as he wanted. That said, since the drawback of stopping his own heart remains, his invincible window only lasts about five seconds, and it's excruciating while he's stopping it.

Regulus-san endured both Reinhard's launch and slam-down by activating "Lion's Heart" at the exact moments they hit him, but while he was sinking underground, if he didn't release it he'd keep passing through the earth, and with the danger of cardiac arrest he had no choice but to deactivate it.

Originally, number 79 was the number Regulus-san prepared when he first saw Fortuna and decided to make her his wife. That became a vacant number after Fortuna died, but when he saw Emilia, he decided to use that number again. And yet he never once went so far as to remember the reason for it here.

Sylphy and the others were prepared to throw away their lives to defeat Regulus-san, but Emilia understood that resolve and still chose a way that wouldn't force them to die. From her own experiences, you could say this was another choice made possible by having gone through the "trial."

Incidentally, before Subaru tore the heart away from Emilia, Emilia offered the option of stopping her own heart to stop Regulus-san, and that too meant being ready to end up frozen once again. In that case it would have become a one-on-one fight between Subaru and Regulus-san, and the fact that she never doubted Subaru would lose shows her trust in him.

Looking back, Regulus-san had been rampaging since Episode 1 of Season 2, and now he has finally sunk. With Akira Ishida's monstrous performance, I think he left an overwhelming impact. Subaru's brilliantly shining record of no-kill. Even below Rem.

Just to be fair, Regulus-san is normally one of the strongest characters in the series, so without Subaru, almost nobody could actually beat him. It's impossible for anyone but Subaru to realize that his wives are his weak point. Even though they're his weak point, he doesn't try to protect them at all.

Also, Priestella had all the conditions in place for Regulus-san to lose. Because of the wedding, he had mobilized all of his wives. "Lion's Heart" does have an effective range, but it still functioned without bringing them into the city, so his cause of death remains: [Wedding].

Regulus-san's parents and siblings were poor, but they were kind people who genuinely cared about him. But Regulus-san took all of their concern and affection as condescension toward himself, and his inferiority complex only grew. Regulus-san's white hair is due to stress.

Regulus-san's first wife was a childhood friend from the same village. She was beautiful and never lorded Regulus-san over anyone, but after obtaining his Authority, Regulus-san quickly murdered both his own family and hers, then took her as his bride. He destroyed the village, and he destroyed the country too.

Regulus-san's wife died by suicide, stabbing her own throat right in front of him. The wife who had never once smiled at Regulus-san finally smiled out of contempt, and that became an extreme trauma for him. Regulus-san built a grave for her, and only for her.

But I don't think he built that grave out of love. It was just so he could make excuses no one asked for, like, "Even if you died without fulfilling your duties as a wife, I still have the mercy and composure as a husband to build you a grave." Nothing more, nothing less.

After that, Regulus-san would go on to take a total of 291 wives, but the one who remained his wife the longest was the first one. More than cherishing her, that's probably because at the time she was the only one he had to entrust "Lion's Heart" to.

Regulus-san doesn't remember where his wife's grave is. He doesn't remember the family he killed, and he doesn't remember the face of the wife who took her own life. That's why no one's face appears in his flashback scenes. The only thing he remembers is that she was laughing as she died.

In the end, once "Little King" lost the person it could be entrusted to, that Authority became "invincible time = cardiac arrest time," so at the bottom of the hole Regulus-san was forced to choose between cardiac arrest and drowning, and he passed away in hellish agony. Even the author doesn't know which one actually killed him. Still, his cause of death remains: [Wedding].

The reason Emilia doesn't remember Regulus-san, even though she should have seen him in the "Sanctuary" trial, is partly because of Pandora's Authority, but even more than that, he simply wasn't memorable enough in that trial to stay in Emilia's memory, and he didn't do anything important either.

I've been tearing him to shreds, but the author doesn't go out of the way to put characters he hates into his own work, so I don't hate Regulus-san either. I just don't want people to think we're on good terms. Deep thanks to everyone involved for fully bringing Regulus Corneas to life.
