Last time, Garfiel vs. Elsa was settled, Emilia overcame the third 'Trial,' and Roswaal's fight with Ram & Pack reached its attachment-driven conclusion. The only battle left is Subaru and Beatrice, which has been continuing throughout all of season 2! So then, what will happen?!
After finishing the second 'Trial' and before challenging the third 'Trial,' snow that hadn't been falling before now comes pouring down. This is one of Roswaal's schemes, since he originally wanted the villagers to mistakenly believe Emilia was the one making the snow fall.
Before the 'Trials' were over, the tomb was that terrifying place where you'd get blown apart if you entered, but now, in the snow, it's become a shelter for the villagers. Echidna is not pleased, with deep furrows in her brow once again.
Ram burns Roswaal's Gospel and takes a direct hit from the magic he fires off reflexively. As she falls into a near-death state, Roswaal is left stunned before her, but he had already carefully finished what he needed to do.
What Pack said about a "majin" is quite meaningful, but for the record, only one person in this world has ever been called that.
Incidentally, before his battle with Ram began, Roswaal had used the magic crystal containing Ryuzu Meyer at the clone facility as a catalyst to make it snow. Even with the crystal, magic doesn't activate automatically, so the battle with Ram and Puck was also multitasking for Roswaal.
The only Ryuzus with wills of their own are Alma, Bilma, and Delma, who take turns among the three of them, plus Shima, who was left out. The rest are simple copies that obey the orders of the Apostle of Greed who challenged the Sanctuary. Those were the ones Garfiel used as decoys when fighting the "Witch of Envy." There are around 20 of them.
Lewes-san briefly spoke once in a voice that sounded kind of like a certain ill-natured Witch somewhere, but well, you don't need to worry too much about it.
The reason Lewes-san knows where Ram and Roswaal are is because her copies, as replicas of Lewes herself, have always been acting like surveillance cameras all over the Sanctuary. That's why Garfiel knew Subaru and the others had arrived at the start, and why he also caught on to their sneaking around later.
Having finished the 'Trials' and accepted her own power, Emilia can now fully control the power that ran wild in Bond of Ice and elsewhere. So she can do handy things like freeze the ground and slide around on it, and from here on she often uses magic to make life easier.
The Great Rabbit comes when it catches the scent of food. And since "the scent of food" means living creatures, it comes by catching the scent of mana. The reason it appears when it snows is because it reacts to the great magic that makes the snow fall. Quick review.
Echidna doesn't understand the human heart, so she can casually say things like "your final wish." She doesn't even show you any hope.
He has makeup on his face, but this is Roswaal A, so this is the Roswaal who spent those nostalgic days with Beatrice in the Sanctuary. The next Roswaal is Roswaal B. Then it goes in order C, D, E, and right now we're at Roswaal L.
Roswaal B is a descendant of Roswaal A, and he was played by Mitsuki Koyasu. Hm? If that made you pause, you're right. He's the son of Takehito Koyasu, who plays Roswaal. In other words, a true parent-child performance!
This is Beatrice's 400-year flashback, but after parting with Echidna and Roswaal A, the flashback suddenly speeds up. That's proof that for her, that much uneventful time passed by.
Everyone besides Subaru and Beatrice has escaped outside the mansion, and only the two of them are left behind. Inside the burning mansion, we're at the final stage.
Roswaal Manor, where the Forbidden Library exists, is burning down, and the Forbidden Library has also been unable to retain its original form as a result. Just as Subaru feared, if all the doors disappear, there will be no way to enter or leave the Forbidden Library, and it will have no choice but to be consumed by the flames like the manor.
When he said, "If I open this door, I'll die," he was prepared for a backdraft to occur when the door was opened. In fact, after Subaru moves, the corridor is swallowed by flames.
Since the first cour of season 2, Beatrice has been searching for "that person," and she wanted Subaru to be that person, but Subaru stubbornly refused. Subaru didn't want to become someone who just fit into the mold of "that person."
"Wasn't she sitting in front of the door?" is an important part of Subaru's pickup line, and because of that, from season 1 onward we always had Beatrice's stepladder in the forbidden library positioned in front of the door. It's not like season 2 had already been decided, mind you. We did it out of consideration for Beatrice's feelings.
To Emilia, who was putting up a fierce fight against the gathering swarm of Great Rabbits in front of the tomb, Subaru and Beatrice came flying straight toward her. This is the first battle for the two of them, who from here on will fight hand in hand many times.
By the way, until Beatrice was brought out like that, she made sure never to say Subaru's name even once. I checked afterward to make sure we hadn't messed that up, so we shouldn't have! Probably! Presumably! Surely!
There were a few scenes in Re:Zero that I absolutely wanted to do, and "Starting from Zero" and "Choose Me" are two of them. As for the other parts, please look forward to them.
And with that, thank you again for this week! Next time, the final episode of Re:Zero season 2! There was a split cour, and also the season 1 recap, so it feels like it's taken almost a full year, but at last it's the finale! Watch with your eyes wide open! Well then, see you again next week! Thank you in advance!
