Alright, it's time for Re:Zero this week! Last time, we wrapped up the past for the most part, and now the battle to solve the problems of the present and seize the future begins! That's the feeling!
Reunion of Roars

Since there was a gap after the first cour, some people may have forgotten, but in the 'Sanctuary,' mixed-blood people can't leave unless the 'Trials' are completed. So Emilia was taking the 'Trials' in order to let the people of the 'Sanctuary' go outside. Remember now?
'You can't escape Reinhard.' Well, just think of it like, 'Gah! Guan Yu!'
By the way, when it comes to the whole 'mixed-bloods can't leave' thing, both Frederica and Garfiel are children of a 'half-beastman' and a human, so since they're quarter-bloods, they count as safe.
Otto-cancel!
That’s a really great opening......
That was a really great opening......
That opening sequence with Subaru and the others setting out took place while Emilia was undergoing the 'Trial,' so the presentation here is that Ram was explaining it to them.
'Barusu truly cares about Emilia-sama' was a line Emilia made Ram say because she wanted to hear it said. It's proof that Emilia has gotten bolder. Of course, nee-sama understands that and is playing along.
'I didn't think Emilia would be able to stand up' means that Ram also shared Roswaal's opinion. But after seeing how hard Subaru and Emilia worked, she changed her mind. Quick to read the situation.
It was Roswaal who had Elsa and the others attack the mansion, and it was also Roswaal who made it snow in the 'Sanctuary' to lure in the Great Rabbit, but his goal was to make Subaru realize that not even 'Return by Death' can save everyone, and shape him into a sage who saves only Emilia. Just a refresher.
Roswaal believes that if all the unnecessary things are stripped away and Subaru becomes someone who chooses only the single goal of 'protecting Emilia,' then making Emilia king is possible. Because Roswaal's objective is to make Emilia king, meet the dragon, and kill it.
Ram is teary-eyed when she says, 'Please, save that person......,' and this is the only time in the story that Ram speaks in a tearful voice. I put pressure on Murakawa-san by telling her, 'This is the first and last time Ram sounds like she's about to cry, so please take care of it' (lol).
According to Roswaal's expectations, Emilia naturally shouldn't have been able to overcome even the first 'Trial.' So he came to carefully break Emilia now that she'd mentally recovered, but instead he got hit with a painful setback.
'Turning Lies Into Wishes' was one of my favorite subtitles, actually.
Whenever events diverge from what is written in Roswaal's "Book of Wisdom," he immediately loses the will to continue that world. So Roswaal's view is that no matter how motivated Emilia gets, it's pointless—but Subaru and Emilia are firmly telling him, "An absolute no!"
Roswaal has no doubt that Ram's actions are 'surely Ram helping with my objective in her own way.' That's because their relationship up to now has always been like that, and because he knows Ram can't fulfill her own objective unless she cooperates with him.
The man scheming behind the scenes. While Subaru was holding Emilia's hand and secretly going to see Shima-san, Otto was making arrangements with Ram as preparation for buying time against Garfiel. That's what this depiction shows.
These days Ram swears loyal love to Roswaal, but when they first met, she was openly hostile toward him. Rem was like that too, but with these sisters, their initial attitude toward the person they later fall for is the absolute worst.
'I have come to steal you away from the Witch's obsession.' I have a feeling nee-sama spent all those years lying low just to say this line.
It's hard to tell from the audio, but Roswaal said, 'one factor in the destruction of your homeland.' He meant one of the causes, not that Roswaal cooperated with the Witch Cult, so please don't misunderstand that part.
It's not like Roswaal was the one who burned down the oni village, okay?☆
Roswaal's understanding -> Since Ram hates me, after her objective is fulfilled, I'll let her do as she likes. -> Did she decide to betray him here because, as an empty shell, she couldn't call it true revenge?
Roswaal is overjoyed, saying, 'So this is why you accepted Subaru-kun's bet!' He probably genuinely had fun having a magic battle with Puck in the Elior Great Forest. There just aren't many opponents Roswaal can seriously fight.
Petra in her nightclothes is extremely cute.
I'm not going to say what exactly, but Elsa-san's ranking [Emilia > Subaru > Petra > Ram > Rem > Frederica > Otto >> Garfiel >>> Roswaal]
As the author, one thing I really like is Elsa-san's battle-junkie attitude of 'Fair and square? What's that?' It's shown to the fullest in the bonus novel included with the Blu-ray, 'Apocalypse Girls.'
Subaru answers Petra's voice calling for help. Personally, this is a quietly favorite scene of mine.
It's already the ending!? That was fast!?
For Frederica and Garfiel, this is also their first reunion as sister and brother in about ten years. Frederica had been sending letters from her side, but Garfiel was too stubborn and never wrote back even once.
That said, Frederica did send Garfiel books as gifts, and Garfiel grew up reading those history books and biographies, eventually emerging as a magnificent chunibyo who loves idioms and great historical figures--!
For Beatrice, it's always the first time; for Subaru, who knows how many times it's been now, this reunion at the mansion. This time for sure, Natsuki Subaru challenges the little girl in order to take her outside--!
And with that, this week is over too, at what felt like the speed of five minutes! While things are heading into a climax-like atmosphere in various places, please look forward to next week as well! Well then, thank you very much!
