Alright! From morning to night! And now it’s Re:ZERO time! Today is episode two of the second half of season 4! Last time, Subaru and the others reached one conclusion regarding the matter of being pushed off, but what happens from here?! Stay tuned, and please join us again today!

The “Book of the Dead” records how its subject died, so you could call it a strategy guide for that person. There may not be many game-like weaknesses such as being weak to fire or water, but it would be hard to overcome one’s cause of death, after all.

In stopping Julius, Subaru leaves Ram to handle the aftermath—based on his experience so far, he has judged who can make the most appropriate decision. Not in terms of combat power, but calm judgment. If it were Anastasia rather than Eridna, though, it would be a different story.

I like, as the author, how Subaru’s strength of thought comes through in the way he turns having no memories into the logic that he does not know about Julius’s defeats. I want to say that forgetting does not make everything go in a bad direction.

“You can go ahead and eat first” is meant to evoke that series of moments from around Arc 2, when he saw Emilia off with, “Watch out for cars, and watch out for men.” It’s something he says because he’s gone back to early Subaru.

Louis uses “watashitachi” and “atashitachi” as her first-person pronouns. Meanwhile, Lye and Roy have a style of alternating between “bokutachi” and “oretachi.” This expresses the influence of the Authority of Gluttony. Like Beako’s “nanoyo” and “kashira,” it is a stylistic choice in the writing.

Once we learn who erased Subaru's memories, we'll probably get a rough idea of what Subaru did yesterday, before his memories were erased. In other words, what yesterday's Subaru realized was the same as what this Subaru has realized. He came up with the same way to beat Reid, and then ran into the boss here.

Memories really are difficult. This Subaru has amnesia, but even after losing his memories, he has lived through a short yet intense stretch of time as Subaru. How are we supposed to come to terms with whether those memories disappear or not? What a cruel story.

The reason Louis couldn't see the figure, hear the voice, or hear the footsteps of the person there was because the "she" who appeared there was something cast aside as unwanted and in the way. The circumstances behind that will come up another time.

"Stand Up," which is also this episode's subtitle, was a part I absolutely wanted to write in Chapter 6—probably the first or second thing I wanted to write most. Unlike things such as "Choose Me," which I had thought of before I began writing Re:Zero, it was a new point I came to want to write.

I'd like to talk a little more, so I will: as Louis confessed, the reason she said all those things to Subaru was that, in order to devour someone whom "Gluttony" had already devoured once, she needed to be able to clearly distinguish them as someone who had become a different person before and after.

By the way, there is a proper answer to the question of why, despite supposedly reading Reid's book, he ended up connected to that incomprehensible place where Louis was. But it's still too early to say, so I'll talk about it in a later episode—if I remember!

As you may have noticed, they jumped into the book looking for a way to beat him, but not only did they come up empty-handed—there have been a whole lot of problems outside, and in fact nothing has improved again. With problem after problem at the Pleiades Watchtower, what will happen next?
