It feels like there's no OP...!!!
Picking up from last time, Subaru has told Echidna, who he can reveal the circumstances of "Return by Death" to, about everything he's experienced so far.
The way the music is used before the title appears is very good. The effect where the sound cuts out in sync with "probably not" is excellent.
Meanwhile, an important conversation was happening behind the scenes. Subaru has long worried about whether "Return by Death" has a limit on how many times he can use it, but Echidna assures him that the source of that power lies with the Witch of Envy and, though it's an inference, that there is no limit on the number of times.
Subaru vaguely understood that "Return by Death" had no end, but he had no way to confirm it, and no one he could confirm it with... that's the idea.
As grounds for doubting the lack of a limit on "Return by Death," Subaru brings up how he couldn't save Rem, but Rem was never in the Witch's sights to begin with. Whether she lived or died was never part of what the Witch wanted...
"I'll use it to the hilt" sounds almost like he's talking himself into it, but emotionally it's more tense, more like he's right on the edge.
It's called the "Great Rabbit," but strictly speaking it's the "Many Rabbit." Because there are so many of them, it's also called the "Great Rabbit" in the sense of a swarm. Just as Echidna says, the White Whale is far stronger, but because of its nature, killing the Great Rabbit is extremely difficult.
And as for why, last time, there were no residents and none of the people from Arlam Village left in the snow-covered "Sanctuary"... well, that goes without saying.
Subaru is looking back now, but Arc 4's stage gimmick has been explained. In other words, both the "mansion" and the "Sanctuary" are heading into danger at the same time. Even if "Return by Death" is a power to redo things, it's not all-powerful. Subaru can't be in two places at once. So then what does he do? That's Arc 4.
Echidna's proposal is only possible because she has collected the souls of the other Witches of Sin. The Witches of Sin are, to a fair extent, not people you can really hold a normal conversation with, so her concern isn't misplaced.
That's the little girl I saw in the OP!!!
When animated, that's one insanely brutal Authority.
When animated, that's one insanely brutal Authority II.
Typhon and Minerva came one after another, and now Daphne is finally making her long-awaited appearance.
Typhon wanders through city after city acting like that, so from the people of that era, of course the reaction would be, "Give me a break."
That coffin Daphne is in is itself a mabeast called the "Centipede Coffin." It's a one-off mabeast created solely to keep Daphne inside, so in a sense it's the same type as the White Whale, Great Rabbit, Black Serpent, and Crimson Scorpion.
Daphne says, "The White Whale is huge, so it'll fill your belly right up," but mabeasts taste like sand soaked in a gutter, so she's clearly ignoring flavor entirely.
Throwing up just drains your strength even more, but if you ate a mabeast while starving, I feel like it might just kill you instead.
Most of the witches are ethically wrong in one way or another, but I think Daphne is the one who feels the most instinctively witch-like.
Including the fact that they knew his name, it seems the witches whose souls had been collected were vaguely listening in on Subaru's conversation from within Echidna.
Even though Emilia is in the middle of the 'Trial,' Echidna is busy with Subaru. Subaru isn't the only one who can't be in two places at once (with some exceptions), so the fact that Echidna came over here shows how little she expected from Emilia.
The declaration that angered Garfiel and Ryuzu-san, the one where Subaru says he'll take on the 'Trial' himself, is commonly called the "Kanpaku Declaration," but Subaru has been consistent in his stance that he himself will be the one to challenge the trial.
The condition for being invited to the tea party is being someone fit to be Echidna's guest, which means raising your voice to ask, "I want to know." The condition gets stricter, so next time he'll have to cry out even more strongly than he did lamenting being eaten by rabbits. What is this, hell?
Right after 'Return by Death,' Subaru injured himself, and in the end was summoned to Echidna's tea party. When he woke up, Emilia, who should have been there taking the 'Trial,' was gone. When he stepped outside, everything was covered in black shadows--
At the tea party, Subaru was able to tell Echidna about 'Return by Death,' but that doesn't mean he was allowed to tell her.
Love love love love love love you.
Along with this, the title "Love love love love love love love love love love love love love love me" is also one of my favorite episode subtitles.
Last time, Subaru was saved by Garfiel, who should have become his absolute enemy after imprisoning him, killing the villagers, and killing Otto. This is the true essence of Garfiel, whose actions change every time.
The Witch of Envy does exactly what Subaru hates most.
Because there was an ED, Episode 34 feels like Echidna was on screen nonstop from beginning to end...!!
We finally got a proper glimpse of the Witch of Envy, who had only appeared as an image before! Though how is it both proper and just a glimpse? For this, Otsuka-sensei properly designed Satella for us!
A world covered in shadow, and Roswaal staying calm even as he too is swallowed by it. What is the true meaning behind the ominous things he says...? Learning that is part of Arc 4's gimmick too.
And so, three more Witches of Sin have made their appearance! By the way, I write both the Witches of Sin and the Sin Archbishops as nasty pieces of work, but when it comes to sheer scumminess, the Sin Archbishops win, while the damage done to the world is greater with the witches!
And with that, another episode that ends at overwhelming speed this week. In fact, they were almost entirely up on that tea party hill for the whole episode. In the sense that it was just people talking in the same place the whole time, it was the same type of episode as Episode 18, "From Zero." If that makes you tilt your head and go, "Really?" then see you again next week! Thank you very much!!
