It's staaarting!
A caption that already makes it look like there's no OP!!
This Witch has some crazy thick eyelashes! What a beauty!
Speaking of Re:Zero Lost in Memories, the OP got released today too. I was surprised to see Subaru princess-carrying Emilia at the end. Shouldn't it be the other way around...?
The Witch's Tea Party, the dream castle, there are various ways to call it, but it's fine if you just think of it as a mysterious space.
Not many people get invited to a place like this, but then again, not many people would be okay after drinking the tea they're offered, either.
A witch who makes you drink her bodily fluids the moment you meet her.
I actually wrote about what happens if an ordinary person stands before Echidna in some bonus novel somewhere!
By the way, her bodily fluids are called "Dona Tea," and back during anime season 1, Cure Maid Cafe actually put Dona Tea on their collaboration menu, which genuinely surprised me. Their coverage range is broad.
Around here, the other six witches besides the "Witch of Envy" get brought up, and personally this is one of my favorite parts because it really feels like the world suddenly opens up.
Of course, there's no way drinking a witch's bodily fluids would end with nothing happening...
Echidna's pretty excited about having a guest for the first time in a while, but it's not like she's this friendly with absolutely everyone. For now, Subaru can at least hold a conversation, so it feels like he's cleared the first hurdle.
"Inexperienced" = has a long loner history.
Echidna gives off an air of mystery, but Subaru isn't actually that interested in Echidna. He's not that interested in witches or past history either, so reuniting with Emilia takes priority.
Echidna has a beautiful face. Echidna has a great voice. Echidna moves beautifully. = Those who see her die.
After getting jerked around that much, he's still trying to look cool... is he...?
"I'm a very bad magician, you know" is one of Echidna's signature lines.
When Subaru wakes up inside the ruins, he's forgotten the conversation he just had with Echidna. But once he steps outside, that immediately stops mattering.
There he is!!! Garfiel!!!
If Patrasche hadn't made that nice save, it wouldn't have been strange for him to have broken an arm or a leg right off the bat!
As those familiar with the books or web version know, Garfiel has a distinctive way of speaking that includes little "ッ" sounds because his fangs catch. Okamoto-san, who plays Garfiel, has reproduced that speech pattern brilliantly. Honestly, I was surprised.
Subaru missing in the forest, Emilia unconscious. Just imagine Otto's shock when he ran into Garfiel under those circumstances.
Otto mimicking "Sorry, small fry, I had the wrong idea" is pretty cheeky, considering he's not acting wary at all about getting the hell beaten out of him. That's because he naturally judged that he'd already made it out of the danger zone.
The instant she wakes up, Emilia-tan steps in front of Subaru to protect him. Total hero move.
The "Sanctuary" is a settlement under Roswaal's protection where people of mixed demi-human heritage live. Demi-humans have a difficult time living in the Kingdom of Lugunica for various reasons, and those of mixed heritage especially so.
Monthly Comic Alive is doing the Arc 4 manga adaptation and the Sword Demon Love Ballad manga adaptation, and I also publish a short story in it every month, so please check it out! It can double as a dumbbell, too!
It's Nee-sama's first appearance since "Hah!"! It's Ram! She shows up a whole lot in Arc 4!
There should be things Subaru needs to talk to Ram about, but he just can't bring himself to do it. Because the scariest thing would be bringing up the issue and having Ram look at him like she doesn't know what he's talking about.
Naturally, Ram is very perceptive, so she's noticed Subaru's strange reaction, but she doesn't press him about it. Around here, just assume Roswaal gave strict orders that Subaru was to be properly welcomed back.
It's been since Memory Snow for Roswaal too, hasn't it!? An unexpected class change into mummy man!
For the record, Roswaal is speaking honestly most of the time. Trust me.
"Sanctuary" means an important place. Saying something like "my Sanctuary" carries that kind of image too.
Roswaal is badly injured, but unusually, he's removed his makeup. It doesn't stand out much thanks to his naturally pale complexion and odd eyes, but he's just plain handsome.
And he has a great voice, too.
"I'd love to beat the hell outta ya right here" is Garfiel's honest feeling in front of that battered Roswaal. Garfiel really hates Roswaal. Garfiel really likes Ram.
By the way, Garfiel is involved in the food part of "three meals and a nap included." Garfiel is the type who can cook.
After everything, for the villagers who'd effectively been under house arrest, Subaru showing his face is a major source of reassurance. On this side, instead of the usual kids, we've got the village chief and the rejuvenated old hag. Those two are siblings, and the rejuvenated old hag is the mayor.
At the end of season 1, Emilia tried to protect the villagers from Petelgeuse's attack and was rejected. That means this is the first contact between Emilia and the villagers since that rejection.
The rejuvenated old hag is named Miledi Aram. And when she's not trying to grope boys' butts, she's an extremely respectable mayor. By the way, the youth group's leader is her grandson.
Next time, I'd like everyone to take off their hoods and have a snow festival together.
Told to "show him somewhere suitable," Otto was actually dumped somewhere suitable for quite a while.
It's the first ending theme, but sorry, once again there's no ending visuals...! No, really, the ending animation is super emotional too, so look forward to it...!
If you go back and rewatch today's episode 3 after the story has moved forward a bit, I think you'll notice just how much care went into everyone's facial expressions.
Could it be a gift from some witch that Subaru was able to enter the ruins without going boom! like Roswaal?
And so, the "Trial" begins. First, face your own past.
What on earth was that thing at the end!? Not fully naked, but a half-naked dad! Ignoring foreshadowing and all that, what exactly just happened? Please look forward to next week!
Still, those 30 minutes really fly by! Thanks again for sticking with me today in that fashion! Like I said earlier, please do go back and rewatch this episode 3 after the story moves ahead a bit! Well then, see you again next week! Thanks in advance!!
