So then, I'll be starting my viewing on MX at 11:30. I'll be noisy again like last time, so as always, if I'm a distraction, just mute me. Well then, see you!
It's about to staaart!
We start at the Crusch mansion, but the flow is to head back to the village for now. Crusch-san's outfit here is really nice, since it has elements of both the version with memories and the version without.
Patrasche was Subaru's reward for helping defeat the White Whale. He probably could have asked for almost anything else, but for Natsuki Subaru, someone he can trust without putting a price on it is worth more than anything. Though he himself wasn't thinking that far ahead.
You could also see it as Crusch-san choosing, from the wardrobe, something cute that still felt fitting for Crusch-sama. That's very nice in its own way too.
The reason Subaru did that little clap-on-the-hand thing with Crusch-san was because he was embarrassed to properly shake hands with a girl.
Oh, seeing a Re:Zero Lost in Memories commercial just playing normally on TV gives me such a weird floaty feeling!
After the commercial break, it's the return trip from the royal capital. It's a two-dragon carriage, and the one beside Patrasche was Otto's ground dragon, Furfur. For Otto, that's a partner he's been with for over ten years.
Last time Emilia said "Rem-san," but this time she consciously calls her simply "Rem" without honorifics. From here on too, Emilia will try to stay one step ahead so Subaru doesn't get hurt, in a sort of "I'll call Rem without honorifics, okay?" way. Otto, meanwhile, wasn't dropping the honorifics, so he got some complaints.
Otto is very convenient for breaking up a tense atmosphere. I can't help relying on that.
Having overcome Arc 3, and wanting to do something about Rem too, he finally decides it's time to sit down with Roswaal and talk everything out honestly. But when he steels himself and goes back, there's no one in the village...
I have the impression Subaru and the others stayed at Crusch's mansion in the royal capital for three or four days, so it feels a little unsettling that Ram and the other villagers still haven't come back from the Sanctuary.
Here, when Otto tries to touch Rem so he can lower her down, possessive Subaru smoothly cuts in and stops him.
If you knocked and found a maid you didn't know inside the house, it'd be a huge shock, right?
Frederica Baumann actually appeared for just a brief moment in Season 1 too, in Ram and Rem's flashback in Episode 11. She's a former maid of the Roswaal mansion, and Ram and Rem's senior maid.
Arc 3 feels long, but in terms of days it's only about a week at most, which tells you just how capable Ram is if she can let the mansion fall into such disrepair in that time. By the way, when it was just the two of them, she only served Beatrice steamed potatoes.
If "Rem" had been there, Ram wouldn't have had to contact Frederica to bring her back either...
The fact that the only people Roswaal properly trusts are "Ram" and "Beatrice" becomes a pretty important point in Arc 4 as well.
Uooooh! Beako! Make a snowman with meeee!!
The pacing of Subaru and Beatrice's conversations feels really good. One of Subaru's bad habits is teasing Beatrice to steady his own feelings because he's scared to get into the main subject.
It's wonderful how Beatrice's whole mood changes so cleanly after seeing the Gospel. Arai-san is amazing, as expected.
This is true of Re:Zero in general, but I think it's fun to look back after watching to the end and reconsider what the characters were thinking partway through. This time too, it's fun to watch while thinking about Beatrice's feelings.
Otto gets conveniently used to break the serious mood again (second time).
There's something oddly funny about Otto casually sitting at the back of the sofa and enjoying his tea with a totally straight face.
Come to think of it, you've actually taken your hat off for once, Otto!
By the way, I personally like that Emilia calls him "Otto-kun."
I want people to remember Otto briefly making a dissatisfied face right before the "fufufufu," too.
As for the "Sanctuary of Kremaldy," in the original web version I just kept calling it "the Sanctuary," but I gave it a proper name in the books. It was just too hard to follow without an actual place name.
It's already treated as two days having passed, but talking to the sleeping Rem about the events of the day becomes part of Subaru's daily routine.
Uoooh! Petra!! That maid outfit is probably a hand-me-down from Ram and Rem!!
Going by Ram and Rem's past arc, Petra's maid outfit really does feel like it's probably a hand-me-down from the two of them.
Petra and Beatrice have had near misses in the OVA Memory Snow and such, but Beatrice avoided any contact by rolling away or hiding, so they've never actually spoken directly. So in Petra's mind, Beatrice is in this vague state of "I think she was there..."
The sky is so beautiful...
That little charm Petra did is one of the 108 techniques Petra's mom taught Petra, after it proved to be the killer move that brought Petra's papa and mama together.
Petra and Frederica are left alone at the mansion, but Petra is an exceptionally quick learner, so she soon becomes a more useful maid than Subaru.
"If anything happens, I'll protect Subaru!" is basically Emilia's unchanging stance toward Subaru from here on out. Subaru dies all the time, so it's rough on everyone around him. What is he, a goldfish?
Emilia had already heard about the existence of the Sanctuary from Roswaal before, but now that she knows it's actually "a village of demi-humans," she's very uneasy. Emilia has lived in a fairly narrow world, so she can't quite hide that anxiety.
The jewel Frederica made them carry begins to shine brilliantly, Emilia loses consciousness, and Subaru is sent to some unknown place. This part flows differently in the web version and the books.
By the way, secretly, it's long again today too! I can't thank the staff enough!
In the forest, he accidentally spots it and aaaAAAAAAH! It came ouuut!!
And at long last, making her long-awaited appearance, the beautiful girl who was standing by: Echidna. And that's where the OP starts!!
How many times has this guy died in the OP? But don't worry, he was already dead there, so the count doesn't go up.
It's an imagined scene, but from here on, he dies in new ways, so the count does go up.
The previous OP had the style of showing the title during the chorus, but this time having handwritten text appear during the chorus is a really slick touch. Amazing.
Still, that OP is packed with information... definitely do your best to pause it and watch it in slow motion so you can savor it! And with that, today's super-fast session is over too! Thank you very much! See you next week!!
