All right! It's Wednesday again today! Which means it's Re:Zero night! Not to mention how fast a week goes by anymore, today is a very important day! Though episodes that aren't important are rarer by now, so please tune in with great anticipation!!
Subaru Natsuki
Author Broadcast Live-Tweets(19 entries)
Last time, Subaru learned Shaula's true intentions and, even so, vowed to keep fighting—then died more than ten times. After that, what Subaru sensed was a Book of the Dead bearing the name "Natsuki Subaru" on the third floor... That's where we left off. Some nostalgic footage played too.
Continuing with the nostalgic footage: the memorable first kill.
Using the Authority's effect of sensing his companions' locations, he's pinpointing where the book labeled "Natsuki Subaru" is in the library. Strictly speaking, it isn't "companions" he's tracing, but rather the basis on which someone is judged to be a companion. If he started calling himself "his own enemy," he might not register on the sensing ability.
Even listening again now, Yusuke Kobayashi was good at dying right from the very beginning.
A nostalgic cast of characters. By the way, in the currently ongoing Book 10 of the novels, Rachins is one of the main cast. When he stabbed Subaru here, even the author had no way of knowing that would happen...
The DIE-gest continues... You can't help getting absorbed in it.
For Subaru, who has no memories, "Natsuki Subaru," whose circumstances he still doesn't fully understand, was a stranger close to him who was supposed to have special powers. But by continuing to read these Books of the Dead, he gradually realizes that "Natsuki Subaru" isn't special.
"You've caught up to me" = present-day "Subaru" has seen everything Subaru experienced before losing his memories by reading the Books of the Dead all the way through. Literally, he caught up from the very beginning through to the Tower.
The exchange here between Subaru and "Subaru"—you can't look away. You can't stop listening.
Subaru's final line here differs from the novels, but having him say "summer vacation" at this point would be far too incomprehensible to people who don't get it!
Now then, Louis appears once again—but what did she experience? Please think of it this way: Louis, who wanted Return by Death, consumed the memories of the Subaru who came here and became one with Subaru after his memories had been emptied.
It's okay—Emilia-tan.
The final struggle in which Louis A and Louis B devour each other has this structure: A, having experienced Return by Death, never wants to go through that feeling again and doesn't want to disappear; and B, trying to devour A, who rejects herself, in order to obtain Return by Death. If A wins, Louis, terrified of Return by Death; if B wins, A, also terrified of Return by Death, becomes one with her
As for this episode's "Natsuki Subaru," like "Starting from Zero" and "Choose Me," it's one of the things I wanted to do when writing Re:Zero. What I wanted to do in Arc 6 was show Natsuki Subaru Natsuki Subaru—that's the story. The direction and the acting made it a fantastic episode. The original author is dancing with joy.
Takahashi-san gave it away on the radio too, but I had him call her "Emilia-tan" from the start so I could do this here.
By the way, Subaru and "Subaru" have that kind of exchange, while Louis A and Louis B are like that, so what a contrast—even though they're both talking to another version of themselves.
So, Episode 82 was deeply moving for the author in many ways too! Thank you again this time! Only three episodes of Season 4 remain! Seriously? The protagonist has only gone back to square one!? What will happen next from there? Look forward to the next one!
Now then, separate from the anime, today, September 9, is the birthday of Re:Zero's Shion & Lyra! https://t.co/URYbA0s3pa
