Subaru was being watched by Ram's "clairvoyance" at the end of last time, but Ram wasn't the only one who came here. Emilia also came to question Subaru about the circumstances.
More precisely, Emilia consulted Ram after someone called her “Emilia-chan.” Emilia noticed Subaru's abnormal behavior, and then this situation was arranged. Incidentally, Ram and Emilia were not the ones who dealt with Meili's vanished corpse. Then who was?
He lost consciousness again, but when Subaru woke up, what came into view were countless writings covering the wall. Then Reid appeared there, but why is he here?
Originally, Reid is the examiner for the second "Trial," so he shouldn't be able to come down from that place. If he appeared here, then there must have been some kind of rules violation.
As for what was happening in Subaru's situation when he woke up, Julius was in the middle of fighting off the many Witchbeasts that had entered the tower, but then Reid, who shouldn't have been able to come down, intervenes and it turns into a battle. As for the timeline, what exactly is happening and how, please make a note of it in your own heads.
As always, the apparition of Meili that appears before Subaru, which I've been calling Imaginary Meili, keeps reinforcing the bleak atmosphere surrounding Subaru's current situation with every little thing she points out.
Subaru reunites with Beatrice and Eridna = Anastasia, but what explodes here is his sense of "what makes me me" in response to this unknown "Natsuki Subaru" he doesn't know.
For Subaru, who has not yet overcome what happened with his parents in Arc 4, the kindness everyone directs toward that Subaru is something he simply cannot understand at all. Excessive expectations and contempt he has no recollection of earning are both things that make no sense to the current Natsuki Subaru.
Here, in the novel, I described Subaru as "lining up the names of every god he knew and begging." That shows just how much of a situation it was for Subaru, one where he couldn't even think of anyone to cling to.
In a sudden emergency, you find yourself reaching out a hand to someone about to fall to their death. Opinions may differ on whether that should be called goodness, but I think there was also talk before of “if a child ran into a road on a red light.” That itself may be an unchanging core, whether he has his memories or not.
Beatrice's trust, which needs no explanation, can be called warm, but at the same time it may also feel like a burden to the current Subaru.
At the end of Part A, something that suddenly shone brilliantly dealt fatal damage to Subaru, Beatrice, and Eridna. Subaru tries to carry Eridna away from the disaster site, but even if he did, it wouldn't change anything. Eridna, understanding that, does not try to return the body to Anastasia.
Imaginary Meili's sweet words are always guiding Subaru in a certain direction, but whether you see that as Meili's will from when she was alive or as something else entirely is something I'd like to leave to the judgment of those of you who watched it.
"For a mercy killing, you can't even grip a stone," Eridna murmurs, and then dies. As the author, this is a scene I really like. Including Meili, who leaves behind a "Why not just die?" and disappears along with her contempt.
In place of the vanished Imaginary Meili appears an unknown figure who falsely claims to "love" Subaru. Even before facing the "Trial" in Arc 4, Subaru already understood everything: how his parents felt about him, and what he really should do. That's why he's wavering and struggling like this.
I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you
In a world where tragedy has befallen Julius, Beatrice, and Eridna, Emilia tries to save Subaru.
Continuing from last time, after Meili's death and the exposure of the fact that he hid her body, this is where things have led now. To be honest, Subaru no longer understands anything at all, but when Subaru appeals that to her, what Emilia does is...
Slowly, but surely, Emilia begins to tell the story of the path Natsuki Subaru has walked, that is, Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World from Zero.
What Natsuki Subaru does not remember, and what "Natsuki Subaru" has done.
Ah, I see now, Natsuki Subaru. So you fell for a beautiful girl like this. You carried feelings that were way above your station, and that's why you tried so hard. So that's all the kind of man you are...?
...Now then, shall we begin?
Life in another world starting from zero...!
And with that, the first half of Season 4—the final episode of the Arc of Loss! Thank you very much! Not a single thing has gotten better! Not a single mystery has been solved! There is only one thing we learned: what “Natsuki Subaru” had been striving for, and that alone!
And with that, the Loss Arc has reached its final episode, and the mini anime will also be taking a break until the next Recovery Arc! With that in mind, for the first half's finale, this time it's the story of the group who couldn't make it to this tower! The afterglow of the main story probably hasn't faded yet, but please enjoy this as well! https://t.co/G7vbBW1B7v
Now then, assuming you've finished watching the mini anime, the first half of anime Season 4—the Arc of Loss—has come to an end. I truly think it was a wonderful adaptation that was so thoroughly attentive in every respect.
I'd like to talk in detail about my thoughts on the first half another day. But for today, while letting that afterglow from the finale linger, I just want to sniffle and say thank you. I am truly grateful to Director Shinohara and all the staff, and to all the viewers who stayed with us this far. Please look forward to the Recovery Arc starting in August, too!!!!
